Frederick Thomas Freeman was born in Flint, Michigan, on May 23, 1963, one of two children of Monice (Hoyler) Freeman and Leonard Freeman. He graduated from Northern High School in Flint, Michigan, after attending Atherton Elementary. He entered the U.S. Army in 1981 and left in 1982 due to a knee injury, receiving an honorable discharge.
He had residences in Escanaba, Michigan; Olympia, Washington; Lakeport, Michigan; Flint, Michigan; and Burton, Michigan, among others. Freeman met Denise Deringer in 1979 and married her in January 2001. She took the name A'miko Kensu. Sadly, after many years of fighting for his freedom, A'miko lost her battle with ovarian cancer in November 2012.
Personal Life
Kensu later remarried Paula (Randolph) Kensu on November 4, 2022, while incarcerated in Macomb Prison. They plan to reside together in their home in Upper Michigan upon his exoneration. With worldwide media coverage and an ever-growing social media following, they believe freedom is imminent.
Following his anticipated exoneration, Temujin Kensu has expressed profound gratitude to the countless supporters who have stood by him throughout his decades-long fight for justice. He plans to travel to personally thank many of them for their unwavering belief in his innocence. Temujin and his wife, Paula, envision settling into a quiet life in the serene northern woods of Michigan, where they hope to enjoy a peaceful and private chapter of their lives with their beloved dogs.
While embracing this new chapter, Temujin also plans to use his skills as a litigator and warrior to fight for others who have been wrongfully convicted. An eloquent and inspiring speaker, he will appear on numerous podcasts and participate in speaking engagements across the country, sharing his story and advocating for justice reform. Through these efforts, Temujin aims to turn his personal struggle into a source of hope and change for others.
